Nu Chapter History
The Notorious Nu Chapter was chartered April 7, 1921 during a period of racial tension and social injustice by the only five African-American women on the University of Michigan's campus at that time. Nu Chapter was the first chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. chartered in the state of Michigan.
These five distinguished women blazed the trail and are the foundation upon which our chapter was built. Our commitment to a lifetime of sisterhood, scholarship, and service began many years ago and will continue throughout all eternity. Our bond of sisterhood is continually deepened as Nu Chapter projects, fundraisers, and educational programs. We vigorously aim for the betterment of women and our community.
